Advanced Renal Care for Children with Clinical, Academic & Research Excellence
The department provides specialized pediatric nephrology services for children with acute and chronic kidney disorders, nephrotic syndrome, glomerular diseases, dialysis needs, kidney biopsy, critical renal care, and transplantation-related management. With a strong multidisciplinary approach, the unit supports both emergency and long-term renal care pathways.
In addition to patient care, the department runs a fellowship programme, participates in academic teaching, conducts research, and contributes to national and international nephrology collaborations.

13 plasma exchange procedures performed for selected high-risk renal indications.
Kidney Transplantation Support
3 transplantations, 6 pre-transplant workups, and 7 post-transplant follow-up cases supported.
Fellowship Programme
The department has been running a one-year fellowship course for pediatricians under the aegis of the Indian Society of Pediatric Nephrology from the year 2015.
Six pediatricians have completed their training so far, reflecting the department’s commitment to academic mentoring, hands-on nephrology training, dialysis exposure, and research-oriented learning.

The department runs a sister renal programme with Birmingham Children’s Hospital in the UK to improve the quality of care in nephrogenetics and renal nutrition. This prestigious programme is supported by the International Society of Nephrology and aims to improve research output as well as patient outcomes through online CMEs, academic exchanges and structured knowledge sharing.
Events Conducted in Last 1 Year
The department conducted the 3rd Annual Nephrogenetic Update and 2nd Annual ICH Update on 26–27 October 2025, the annual ICH Hemodialysis Update for dialysis technologists on 18 January 2026, and the Acute Care Nephrology Workshop on 16 January 2026. These sessions included preconference workshops, academic lectures and broad participation from delegates.
